With the annual typhoon season underway, coastal emergency management bureaus and fire rescue detachments have completed much of their seasonal procurement - and ODE rescue kits feature prominently in deliveries to frontline stations.
Typical typhoon-response packages include battery breaching tools for forced entry through wind-damaged structures, professional chainsaws for fallen trees and signboards, portable lighting support, and heavy support components for stabilizing damaged buildings after storm impact.
Procurement patterns this season
Agencies report two clear trends: first, a shift toward cordless tool sets that individual stations can deploy without waiting for specialist vehicles; second, framework purchases that include training and multi-year spare-parts coverage rather than one-off hardware buys.
ODE's tender team supported dozens of regional procurements, supplying certified equipment, documentation and instructor-led training sessions. The company also pre-positioned batteries and consumables in coastal warehouses to shorten replenishment during active storm periods.
"Respect for the storm means preparation before it arrives," an ODE regional manager said. "Our job is making sure every box on the checklist is actually on the truck."
